i need help with some anatomy questions?
Why must hormones like insulin and oxytocin be injected? Explain some of the dangers associated with overuse of anabolic steriods? 1. They are made of amino acids and your digestive system would break them down. 2. As a child the epiphyseal plates have not fused, so there can be more linear bone growth. As an adult, since the fusion has occurred, growth can only occur in cartilage and the acral bones. 3. There is iodine fortified in the foods we eat, especially those containing salt. And we all eat plenty of salt. 4. Hypothyroidism causes mental retardation in children since it is needed for myelination. In adults it is mostly responsible for a drop in the metabolic rate, which causes obesity, cold intolerance, high cholesterol, etc. 5. It causes your calcium to be low which can cause your heart to stop beating. 6. Type 1 is due to autoimmune destruction of the beta cells. It usually starts in childhood. Type 2 is due to decreased responsiveness of adipose tissue to insulin. It usually starts in adulthood, especially those who are obese.
