I just looked at that diagram, and it's sort of complex looking. I can see why you are confused. The written information that talks about how hypoglycemia happens was more helpful. Have you tried going to the American Diabetes Association website for more info? I believe the bluish hexagons are glucose and the purple triangles are insulin. The glucose amount released by the reserves of the liver are reduced. That is why the hexagons are filled with dots and not painted. The glucose of the bloodstream gets in the fatty tissue and muscle.
