For cases of Diabetes Mellitus, can bitter melon (Asian vegetable) lower your blood sugar level

For cases of Diabetes Mellitus, can bitter melon (Asian vegetable) lower your blood sugar level?

Yes it does.
2 :
There has been no clinical evidence to show that bitter melon can lower your blood sugar. If you have a problem correcting your blood sugar, cut back on your dietary intake of sugar first. Then if that is not enough, talk to your doctor about medications like Glucotrol, which can lower blood sugar.

go to dlife.com for answers. It is for diabetics and has all kinds of info. Too much to put in here.
2 :
Your pancreas fails to produce enough insulin to regulate blood sugar levels, you have to take pills or insulin to do the job.

Which hormone is deficient in type 1 diabetes mellitus patients

which hormone is deficient in type 1 diabetes mellitus patients?

Diabetes - 5 Answers

1 :
Insulin
2 :
not a doctor so you can't take my answer to the bank, but i believe that it is the hormone insulin that is made by the pancreas to help regulate blood sugar. I thought that type 1 was when the body doesn't make enough or any insulin at all and that you have to regulate blood sugar with insulin injections.
3 :
Insulin. In Type 1 diabetes mellitus, the cells of the pancreas produce little or no insulin to regulate blood glucose level appropriately. It can occur at any age, but usually starts in people younger than 30. It also has a strong genetic link.
4 :
insulin
5 :
Insulin is deficient in type 1 diabetics. In type 2 diabetes, your body still produces insulin, but there is a resistence to its effects.

Why is wound healing delayed in diabetes mellitus

why is wound healing delayed in diabetes mellitus?

Diabetes - 4 Answers
Random Answers, Critics, Comments, Opinions :
1 :
Healing is directly related to blood flow to the area. Diabetes Mellitus damages blood vessels and therefore interferes with blood flow.
2 :
...Firstly diabetes mellitus is an immunocompromised condition, that means your power to heal and defend the body against infections is lowered. ...Secondly there is usually neuropathy of the smaller nerves that make you a little less sensitive to slight trauma of the feet especially, ...Lastly there are vaso-occlusion of the small to medium sized vessels of the body that cause a reduced blood supply to the particular area and cause ischemia and necrosis. Hope it helped
3 :
When you're diabetic, you have extra sugar circulating through your body in your blood. Over time, this excess sugar causes harm to the inside lining of blood vessels. Because of the damage, many diabetics have impaired circulation. When our body works to heal any type of wound, it sends extra blood that way so that the wound can get extra oxygen. As a diabetic with a wound, there is decreased blood flow due to the damaged veins, and therefore less blood & oxygen supplied to the wound which leads to an increased healing time as well as an increased chance of the wound continuing to grow.
4 :
diabetes compromises the vascularsystem resulting in lower blood flow to the area that needs to heal. the blood carries the nutrients to the wound andthe debris away from the wound; thus delayed healing in a diabetic.

Pharm Help !!a old women has fatigue lathargy and comfunsion. She has a h/o diabetes mellitus and hypertension?
her lethargy is increasing and her urine output is decreasing. why would the md order the following med. i have to know the reason for each folic acid ferrous sulfate epogen renagel calcium carbonate
Diabetes - 1 Answers

1 :
Kidney failure (casued by the diabetes) will cause the lethargy, confusion, and reduced urine output. Renagel is a medication to help treat kidney disease. Kidney disease ALSO causes anemia. Ferrous Sulfate would seems to be an iron supplement to help fight anemia. It may ALSO be that the patient is experiencing Ketoacidosis. This is where the buildup of Ketones (caused by badly uncontrolled diabetes) causes the blood to turn acidic. Calcium Carbonate would seem to be an "anti-acid" to help reduce blood acidity. Don't know about Folic Acid in this cae.

Any hope for blindness from retinal detachment caused by poorly controlled diabetes mellitus

any hope for blindness from retinal detachment caused by poorly controlled diabetes mellitus?

sorry, I'm sure you don't want to hear this but from the people i know that had that, there was no hope to regain their vision, i am so sorry for you, this is in Canada, some other countries are more advanced though, good luck to you!!
2 :
Look at http://www.iblindness.org/ You'll see it says there, "More serious conditions and diseases of the eye such as cataract, glaucoma and others, often involve unnecessary tension that contributes to the problem, there have been many cases in which they have been benefited or eliminated." This is because the method teaches you how to relax the muscular and nerve system to benefit the vision system, including relieving blindness (and other refractive errors and serious diseases of the eye, including cataracts, glaucoma, retinal detachment, and macular degeneration) It has a lot to do with neuroscience, in fact. I've had very good results with it. There is a technique called palming used in this method, which is derived from ancient Tibetan yoga. Palming can help you with the pain in your eye. It's like this... find a table to sit at, put your elbows on the table (use cushioning if it helps you feel comfortable), lightly apply without any pressure your palms over your closed eyes in a way that blocks out as much light as possible, with the fingers of one hand overlapping the other at your forehead. Keep your eyes closed. Relax yourself by imagining something very black like the center of a deep space black hole funnel to make the background (with your eyes closed) even blacker. Don't strain while doing this. Breathe deeply through your nose only. Do this about 5-10 minutes several times a day - like 6 times or more, however much you like. It is important that your hands are warm when you're doing this. Try it the first time by soaking your hands in comfortably hot water for about 30 sec-1 min before you try palming, and you'll feel the heat from your hands enter your eyes and relax the eye muscles. Palming works because the heat from the hands relaxes both the eye muscles and the optic nerve, which is an extension of the brain. The optic nerve, when relaxed, will also relax the brain. The ancient Tibetan Buddhists did this for their meditation sessions; but it should heal your eye's pain too. I would suggest asking questions about what you can do for retinal detachment at: http://www.iblindness.org/forum/ There's quite a history that goes with this method. It was covered up by some intellectual tyrannies of science, which is why it is often dismissed by optometrists who know little about their history. But my success speaks volumes...if you choose to believe me that is.

Why diabetes mellitus effect our sensation(receptor) and how

why diabetes mellitus effect our sensation(receptor) and how??

diabetes leaves too much sugar in the blood stream, simply stated, this damages blood vessels resulting in loss of circulation. Loss of circulation causes nerve damage and death, all kinds of nerves, especially sensory nerves.
2 :
the_only is right, IF (AND ONLY IF) the blood glucose levels and A1c levels are elevated. If blood glucose levels and A1c levels are controlled, there will be either no neuropathy nor any other complication, or if there are complications it will only be minimal.

yes, tell a long time diabetic has their blood sugars been fine.. diabetes is a disease of the circulatory system.. Circulatory and innnervation go hand in hand.. One example is an atrophied arm.. The arm is still getting blood but is nor innervated.. I have diabetic charcot foot. I have neurapathy in both of my feet.. Propioceptors area specialized nerve in your feet tells your brain what it needs for balance. I have no sense of balance because those propioceptors can't send the message.. Also when a neurologist checks your feet he wants to see what type of sensation you do experience.. Hot and cold..diabetics are warned not to get in bath water that is too hot.. Some diabetics not beiing able get scalded because they can't determine how hot something is by the sensation of their neurologically dead feet.. Myself my neurologist does a simple test with a safety pin.. last year I couldn't feel the pin prick from my foot up to my thigh .This year I felt the pin as it pricked my foot..Many diabetics get retinopathy which destroys the nerves to the eyes.. Is that enough sensations..
