What is the difference b/w diabetes insipidus and diabetes mellitus

what is the difference b/w diabetes insipidus and diabetes mellitus?

believe that it's type 1 and type 2 type 1 requires insulin shots daily type 2 usually is oral meds only
2 :
diabetis insipidus is due to the shortage of the harmone vasopressin due to which large amounts about 10 litres of urine is excreted every day.diabetes mellitus is due to shortage of insulin which helps in converting glucose into glucagon.diabetes mellitus is the common diabetes what we call
3 :
diabetes insipidus is also reported as hereditary disease where in excretion of urine is in excess . Whereas diabetes mellitus is commonly called as diabetes.
4 :
what i've learned is diabetes mellitus is caused by the lack of insulin produced by the beta cell in the islet of langerhans (glucose lvl increases) whereas diabetes insipidus is caused by the lack of the hormone, antidiuretic hormone which is produced by posterior pituitary gland. When ADH becomes less,it decreases the permeability of the renal tubules of nephron which reduces the rate of reabsorption of water back into the blood stream. Thus causes lots of water are excreted and our body will be dehydrated.
5 :
diabetes insipidus is casued mainey by adh not working in the brain this cos great thirts to drink anything up to 2 gllaons water a day....not self stertioning also the word diabetes is the right word cos it means to have a thrist,,, a need to drink so in that way its right to use it in meany ways DI is as bad as type 1 type2 i who have it should know rogue

main symptom will be sudden weight gain or loss, urinating more than usual... feel tired very often.... dizziness after having some food(like high sugar food) these r the symptoms that my mother in law had and then when v checked she was diabetic....
2 :
Treating diabetes is best carried out during the early stages of the disease when the consequences can still be controlled and minimized. Such an approach will require an early determination of diabetic symptoms. These diabetic symptoms are: * Extreme and excessive thirst that is quite abnormal * Hunger even when meals have recently been taken * Frequent urination * Fatigue easily creeps in * Excessive weight loss at such a short period of time * Smeared vision * Nagging impatience that has recently been developed If you are interested in more info on treatment for type 2 diabetes, you may wish to refer to this site : http://diabetic.best-health-remedy.com/

The immune system of diabetic patients is a little impaired, leaving them susceptible to infections and they have poorer circulation than average, making it harder for them to send white blood cells into an area to fight infection and send red cells, sugars and amino acids into an area for repair and rebuilding.

Why is urine colorless in diabetes mellitus?

why is urine colorless in diabetes mellitus?

Diabetes - 4 Answers
Random Answers, Critics, Comments, Opinions :
1 :
Urine is colorless usually means that you are losing large volumes of water. It does not have time to concentrate to turn the "Yellow" color. When a person's sugar level is above 200 the osmolality(weight) of the blood puts extra pressure on the tiny capillaries in the kidneys and actually forces the water out of the blood. This is why it is important to keep your blood sugar under control. The sugar molecules cause damage to the capillaries and this leads to kidney damage. The more the damage the less the kidney will work and that is why a lot of patient's with diabetes are on Dialysis.
2 :
It's colourless [colorless] because of the amount of fluids being taken in ... and then excreted. (Your body does this in an attempt for your kidneys to dispose of the excess glucose from your bloodstream.)
3 :
Everyone with diabetes doesn't have colourless urine all the time, it's just that people with diabetes often have high blood sugar which makes as thirsty and drink a lot more than average so our urine is more dilute that it might be. In someone without diabetes this would mean that they are really well hydrated but for someone with diabetes we could still be badly dehydrated because the glucose in our blood removes water from our cells (it's osmotically active) and this is why we get so thirsty and dehydrated and still pee a lot! Hope that helps xxx
4 :
Urine should ALWAYS be colorless, or have just a slightly "golden" color to it. It should be completely clear, not cloudy, and with nothing floating in it. The yellow color of your urine is caused by various chemical that your body gets rid of. Dark Yellow urine often means dehydration -- you need to drink more WATER. Red, pink, or brown urine indicates blood. if you see this you MUST call your doctor immediately.

Hhow does diabetes mellitus relate to glucose

how does diabetes mellitus relate to glucose?

Diabetes - 2 Answers
Random Answers, Critics, Comments, Opinions :
1 :
D.M. is your body's inability to secrete/create the proper amount of insulin to control glucose levels in the blood.
2 :
Diabetes mellitus, my friend, is to do with the body's inability to control glucose concentration within the bloodstream. In type 1 diabetes the problem arises as the beta cells (islets of Langerhans), the organs within the pancreas that produce the hormone insulin, are destroyed. In type 2 diabetes the problem arises as the body's cells become resistant to the effects of insulin, which is still being produced by the pancreas, and are therefore unable to utilise [utilize, if you're one of my American cousins] the glucose that's present within the bloodstream. There is also a third main type of diabetes called gestational diabetes, which affects pregnant women, that also affects the way that glucose is utilised. The good news is that with this type of diabetes mellitus it usually 'disappears' after the pregnancy. It does, however, leave the sufferer with an increased risk of developing type 2 diabetes at some stage of their life.

What is the reason for polyurea in diabetes mellitus

what is the reason for polyurea in diabetes mellitus?

Diabetes - 4 Answers
Random Answers, Critics, Comments, Opinions :
1 :
u can look it up on google for detailed info
2 :
I think you mean polyuria instead of polyurea. Polyuria is a medical term used to describe the symptom of increased frequency of urination. When glucose levels in blood are greater than normal, the molecule of glucose 'leaks' into the urine. As glucose enters the urine, it brings water molecules with it and, in turn, urine volume increases and, 'voila', polyuria happens..
3 :
Potential causes of polyuria A number of diseases and conditions can cause polyuria, including diabetes. Excessive urination may also result from medications or dietary factors, such as the type and amount of fluids being consumed. In people with diabetes, excessive urination may be a sign of hyperglycemia caused by poor diabetes management or an ineffective diabetes management plan. It is also a symptom of undiagnosed diabetes. When large amounts of glucose (blood sugar) build up in the bloodstream, the sugar is removed from the body in urine. Additional water is excreted to dilute the glucose. As a result, people begin to urinate more frequently. A patient may prevent hyperglycemia by following a diabetes management plan that is recommended by a physician, which typically includes a good diet and exercise and may include insulin or antidiabetic agents. When episodes of high glucose occur despite these efforts, a physician may recommend changes to the treatment plan. The symptoms of diabetes vary from person to person. Diabetes often goes undiagnosed because many of its symptoms seem harmless. It is important for people to see their physician when they experience polyuria or any other symptoms of diabetes. If diabetes is not diagnosed and left untreated, a person with diabetes may faint and lapse into a coma. Other causes of frequent or excessive urination include: Excessive intake of fluids, particularly those containing or alcohol. Age. Nocturnal (nighttime) polyuria is common in elderly people. Medications including diuretics, lithium (used to treat bipolar disorder) and demeclocycline (an antibiotic). Excessive vitamin D. Overactive bladder, a sudden need to urinate followed by a bladder contraction and an involuntary loss of urine. Urinary tract infection. Interstitial cystitis, a bladder disorder caused by chronic inflammation. Kidney failure, nephritis (kidney infection), polycystic kidney disease (disorder involving multiple cysts on the kidneys) or other renal conditions. Amyloidosis, a buildup of abnormal proteins that disrupts the function of tissues or organs. Prostate problems, including enlarged prostate (benign prostatic hyperplasia) or prostate cancer. Sickle cell anemia, an inherited blood disorder in which hemoglobin is defective. Diabetes insipidus, an uncommon disorder unrelated to diabetes mellitus. Wolfram syndrome, a rare genetic disorder that include diabetes mellitus and diabetes insipidus. X-ray tests that use a contrast medium (can cause a temporary increase in urination). Psychogenic polydipsia, a psychological disorder in which a person uncontrollably drinks huge quantities of water. In addition, polyuria can result from the many other conditions that involve excessive thirst, including additional endocrine disorders, mineral imbalances, liver disease, head injury, burns, excessive bleeding and drug abuse.
4 :
The reason for polyuria is because there is too much sugar in your blood stream. Your kidneys respond by filtering the blood and removing the sugar from the blood stream and then you pee it out.
