I don't know for sure, because the measurement you are using is unfamiliar to me. Here in the US, the measurement for well controlled blood sugar is a reading between 70-120 mg/DL (milligrams per deciliter). I think your measurement is in moles and conversion from one measure to the other depends on molecular weight. But, as I recall the conversion for blood sugar is to divide 70-120 mg/DL by 18 which would yield a range of 3.8-6.6 mmol.
2 :
False. Normal fasting blood glucose is that level. Untreated diabetics have levels above 11,1 mmol/l

Yes, you could. But you could also have about 1,000 other things, including nothing. The symptoms you describe are all very general symptoms, and while they all fit the picture of diabetes they also fit the picture of any other number of diseases, or they could fit into the range of "normal". The best thing to do is for your to go see your doctor, describe the symptoms you're having. Diabetes is diagnosed by a simple blood test, and while a serious disease can be controlled with a combination of diet, exercise, and maybe medications. As with anything, don't take the advice of random internet people, go see YOUR doctor and get an actual (not electronic) diagnosis.

Vicki, You have all the symptoms of the disease, you need a dr. to run blood and urine test to be sure. If you want to learn more go to web md. Good Luck Rita V

It is possible that you have diabetes. I was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes almost 2 weeks ago. I had lost 15 pounds over 3 months (I am 5'7" and went from 110 lbs to 95 lbs), tiredness, frequent throat infections, extreme thirst during the last couple weeks (At least 10 glasses of water/juice/milk each day), frequent urination (In the last week before my diagnosis I was urinating about 10 times a day, but it started off as having to go to the restroom once during school day, which I never do), extreme hunger, and blurred vision. You could buy a glucometer (I recommend the OneTouch Ultra 2) and test yourself, which is what I did, but you'll still have to see your doctor for a diagnosis. Well, my mom suspected that I was diabetic so she bought a glucometer and made me test my sugar; it was over 500. You should go to your doctor and ask to get checked.

Well, you are way too heavy for your height. Might want to loose some weight. Your ideal body weight is about 60kg for your height. As for your question, its a bit vague. Getting a random blood sugar after eating may cause you to have the 140mg result. Better wait for your fasting blood sugar. It's more accurate. A fasting blood sugar over 120mg means your diabetic.
2 :
It is a little high, but I'm not clear how close to after you ate this was taken. Also for a random blood sugar this is high. I would make an appt. with your Doctor and be checked.

...there are 2 types Diabetes Mellitus; type 1DM which are insulin dependent and type 2 which are non-insulin dependent Type 1:NDDM ppl can't produce any insulin from beta cells of the pancreas which type 2 :NIDDM can still produce insulin from their beta cells the problem lies with utilizing the insulin. Insulin is a hormone that helps the body utilize glucose in out blood fluid. It the level of blood glucose is high, one is dx as been a diabetic..... Glucose is stored as glycogen in the liver or in the muscles. When blood glucose level are high insulin transports the glucose for storage to be later use to provide energy which the body needs especially when blood glucose levels are low but without insulin glucose remains in the blood stream and cause short term effects i.e. polyuria, polyphagia, polydipsia and weight loss, it's long term effects destroys the blood vessels of the body which later leads to complications such retinopathy, blindness, amputation of extremities etc

No and it will disappear once bub arrives but you may be a little more susceptible to getting diabetes when you are older.
2 :
no..it doesnt develop in every women getting pregnant
3 :
Not every pregnant women developes gestational diabetes. Since this is however a common problem and treatable, all pregnant women are tested. Uncontrolled diabetes while pregnant makes for a large baby which could cause problems during the birth and then after the baby is born they can have their blood sugars crash and that's not good for them. If you develop diabetes while pregnant, it means that you could get diabetes later in life or at least you are in a high risk group.

diet control and regular exercise is better than any thing else
2 :
Gymnema sylvestre, Momordica charantia, salica reticulata and Fenugreek have been used extensively in Ayurvedic medicine.
3 :
1: Alpha lipoic acid (600-1000 mg a day) - "nature's insulin." 2. Remove HIgh Glycemic Foods 3. Cinnamon powder (2 Tablespoons a day) 4. Psyllium husk powder once a day. 3. Xylitol as a sugar alternative.
4 :
Add to the above, bitter melon. But here is an article that explains it all and how to cure type II in short order by taking chromium and vanadium (trace minerals, defiencies of which are at the root cause, then exacerbated by diets high in carbohydrates) and a diet of 85% fat. Extremely compelling article. http://www.mercola.com/2001/jul/14/insulin.htm
5 :
"R"-Lipoic Acid. Alpha Lipoic is helpful, but barely- it's more use as an antioxident. I checked with the guy who's doing the clinical trials on it here in the U. S. (It's been used for years in Europe) He was starting with 300 mg. But I found that too much will make my blood sugar yo-yo and I'm better off with just 100mg. after my main meal. Cinnamon with other meals. You have to keep close track of your blood sugar until you know. Cinnamon bark.... and there's lots of ways to get that- just add cinnamon to your foods more. Even Bay Leaves, when added to food will help lower blood sugar. Be careful with herbs!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Of course, regular exercise. Proteins, fiber, and veges. are fine- once you got it under control you can pretty much what you want with them.. but then remember proper weight management as much as possible-. That's where I fall down. Small meals, more often. That's a hard one, too, if you're like me. If food could be treated by an over-eater like alcohol can by an alcoholic... I could stop eating and never start- I'd be ok. Stevia is the best sweetner- as it works to lower blood sugar. It's an herb, but safe.

You should work with your health provider. There are natural products available to help control. Check these out. But still work with your doctor - diabetes is a serious illness. http://www.freshstartworld.com/

Can we cure diabetes mellitus

can we cure diabetes mellitus?

To date there is no cure for diabetes mellitus. There is much research to using stem cells for a cure of type 1 diabetes, to replace the cells in the pancreas that produce insulin. I believe in the future there will be a type 1 diabetes cure. Type 2 or adult onset is a different pathology. In type 2 the pancreas is fine, but the body develops a resistance to insulin. Who knows perhaps type 2 will also be cured one day.
