Insulin. Symptoms include weight loss, thirstiness, fatigue. A doctor can perform very simple blood tests such as fasting glucose and a hemoglobin A1C. The symptoms can go unnoticed in some so it's important to see your doctor if you have any suspicions/symptoms.

Insulin. I see symtoms listed by others here, and they are all correct, but what is very important to know is that often there are no symtoms at all. I am an RN, and Certified Diabetes Educator. Often, when I see a patient for the first time is in the hospital after they have had a heart attack. Heart disease is a complication of diabetes that is often present at diagnosis....in other words, many people go for years with no symtoms, while diabetes is ravaging their eyes, kidneys, heart, and nerves. I believe in screening everyone with a simple fingerstick!
