Why is the second leading cause of death/behind accidents/for ages 25-34 suicide, and then homicide after that?

Like you said, death is uncommon in that population. Illness is even less common. As a population ages, terminal illnesses become more common, and move up in rank on the causes of death list. Accidents become slightly more common, but the increase isn't as much as increases in heart disease, cancer, etc.
