I don't know the statistics, but i know it is becoming an epidemic in Asians because of dietary habits of more carbohydates and fats and less of vegetables. More fruits and vegetables, less rice and fats, regular exercise will prevent problems. Diabetes is painful as it is a long term illness and you can only control it, no cure at the moment
